Around the fourth century, Christians started celebrating "Advent," from the Latin adventus: "arrival." This season leading up to Christmas was marked by expectant waiting, hopeful anticipation, and cheerful preparation for the birth of Christ. This was a season of excitement about the incarnation. It wasn't just one day, it was four weeks designated to preparing hearts and minds for the reality of God becoming man.
At Central, we are celebrating Christmas with this traditional season of Advent with our series, "The Arrival." Join us every week as we count down the days and prepare for the celebration of the arrival of our King.
