The Details

Read: This week, we will explore the fourth Beatitude, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”  What do you hunger and thirst for in this life? Does it line up with God’s Word and His desire for you? God wants you to be blessed and satisfied, but what does that really mean or look like? God’s Word says, that we are to put off the old self, our standards, for the only one that saves and satisfies—God’s standard and new life in Christ. This week’s lesson will focus on God’s desire and promise to each of us. Invite God into your study time this week and ask Him to personally show you, what you need to hear, what needs to change, and how to crave His righteousness over all things. May you be blessed!

Discussion Questions:

  1. What is standing in the way of you being blessed by God and how is this blessing different than what the world can give or promise?
  2. What steps will you take this summer to change the way you seek happiness and satisfaction?
  3. Make a list of all the things you hunger and thirst after? They can be things of the world and of God. Now lay that list down before God and ask Him to change your desires to line up with His and affirm where you are on the right track. What did God show or tell you? See Romans 12:1-2.

Fill us O Lord with your Holy Spirit and give us a hunger and thirst for your righteousness that transforms us and glorifies you. We need you Lord God Almighty! We cannot do this on our own. Guide us in seeking true satisfaction that only you can give. Let the world not blind us or keep us from your righteousness and seeing your truth. Thank you, Lord, for giving us your Word, for your Word is truth, your Word is Jesus Christ Himself, and it is He that brings life and transformation. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
