AZ Beyond the Border

What if one weekend could change how you see your neighbor—and your faith?

In this cultural moment, conversations about immigration often create distance instead of understanding. AZ Beyond the Border invites you to pause, step closer, and ask a deeper question: Who is my neighbor? Over four days and three nights in Nogales, you will enter real places and meet real people whose stories bring this question to life. You will walk the borderlands, listen to lived experiences, and see both the beauty and the struggle of a community shaped by movement, hope, loss, and resilience. This experience is designed to awaken your awareness and expand your understanding of what it means to follow Jesus across borders seen and unseen.

This is not a political trip. It’s a pilgrimage of proximity. You will spend time with families seeking safety, play with children at shelter sites, share meals, and see firsthand the work of the Kino Border Initiative. KBI began in 2009 as a binational effort offering food, shelter, legal support, and advocacy for migrants. Today, it stands as a trusted voice for human dignity at the border. As part of this journey, you will explore the nuances of migration, hear diverse perspectives, and allow the complexity of these stories to shape how you see and engage your own community.

-Humanize: Meet people face-to-face and recognize their dignity.

-Accompany: Be present. Listen. Serve. Share space and stories.

-Complicate: Let assumptions be disrupted. Allow questions to grow. Discover the nuance that real lives bring to conversations about the border.

You are invited! Come with openness. Come with curiosity. Come ready to listen and learn. And return home seeing differently, loving differently, and living differently, with the eyes and heart of Jesus.

What's Needed: A valid passport or passport card (doesn't expire before June 30, 2026)

Cost: $595 (Includes transportation, meals, lodging- double occupancy)

**Recent Testimonial**

“Growing up in Texas I know how contentious, confusing and apprehensive the topic of the border and US immigration can be. Visiting the border with Amplify Peace was deeply impactful as it made the rhetoric, politics, dining room conversations and cable TV talking points morph and become grounded in faces, stories and experiences that I encountered. Not only did I learn facts about the history and current realities surrounding the border but also encountered people on all sides of the issue. I’m walking away from this experience not only more educated but also with a deeper desire for justice and to see the Imago Dei in each person I encounter. I’d absolutely recommend this trip if you are wanting a real or better understanding of the realities of the border and if, like me, you want to love on and serve all people no matter who they are or where they come from.”
